Lightweight Pettis signs multifight deal with PFL

Former UFC and WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis has agreed to a new multi-fight deal with Professional Fighters League, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

He will take part in PFL’s 2021 season and will compete in their lightweight division.

On Tuesday, Pettis, who recently fought out his UFC contract after an almost 10-year run with the promotion, announced he had parted ways with the company and would test the free-agent market.

The 33-year-old is coming off Saturday’s unanimous decision win over Alex Morono — the last fight on his UFC contract.

Pettis (24-10) has won his last two fights in a row. He won the WEC lightweight title 10 years and the UFC title over seven years ago. He is still considered one of the biggest and most popular names in the sport, holding victories over the likes of Charles Oliveira, Stephen Thompson, Benson Henderson, Jim Miller and Donald Cerrone.
