National Cricket Academy To Be Set Up In Sikkim: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday said that BCCI secretary Jay Shah assured him that a National Cricket Academy will be established in the Himalayan state to provide a platform to the youths. Shah, the BCCI in-charge of Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, called on Tamang at his Mintokgang residence here during the day. Tamang, in a social media post, said he and Shah discussed various issues related to the development of cricket in Sikkim and the cricket board official assured him of extending every possible support.

This was for the first time that a senior cricket board official visited the Himalayan state and showed a commitment to motivating the youths of Sikkim to embrace the sport as a profession, he said.

With the BCCI promising to set up a quality infrastructure for the promotion of the game in Sikkim, Tamang exuded confidence that talented cricketers will be discovered who will represent the state and the nation in due course of time.

Shah was accompanied by Cricket Association of Bengal president Abhishek Dalmia, IPL Governing Council Member Mamom Majumdar, BCCI interim CEO Hemang Amin and officials of the Sikkim Cricket Association.
